The Failure at God School is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. The popular manga is author of The Apothecary Diaries, with manga art by Modomu Akagawara, known for Ani Tomo, and is currently serialized in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume with cooperation on the original work from Seikaisha. A teaser visual has also been unveiled, along with comments from Hyuuga and Akagawara

The series marked Hyuuga’s first attempt at writing an original story for a shojo manga. It has also attracted attention for the simultaneous publication of its manga and novel editions, with the novels The manga has surpassed 1.7 million copies in circulation

Today, September 18, the latest 15th volume of the manga was released alongside the new issue of Hana to Yume, which features The Failure at God School on its cover.

The teaser visual centers on protagonist Nagi Hibiya, who ends up attending a school for gods despite possessing no divine powers. She is joined by Tsukuyomi no Mikoto, commonly known as Tsukuyomi, one of the highest ranking gods in Japan, and Nagi’s classmate Touta Eto, whose family runs a major shrine.

The three are depicted on stone steps framed by vivid red autumn leaves, with a large torii gate rising behind them. The visual offers a glimpse of the story that is about to unfold around the characters.

A campaign allowing readers to sample the original manga will also be held to commemorate the TV anime adaptation. The anime’s official X account and official website have also launched.

Comment from Original Story Creator Hyuuganatsu

The Failure at God School is getting an anime adaptation. We will get to see and hear Nagi, Takeru, Tsukuyomi, and Touta moving and speaking. What could make me happier?

This is all thanks to everyone involved in the production and to all the readers who have supported the series.

To the version of myself who had just started writing after my editor told me, “This is for Hana to Yume, and Akagawara sensei will be drawing the manga,” I want to say this: It is going to become an anime!

What I can do now is continue writing the story and perhaps pray to the gods themselves. Thank you for your continued support.

Comment from Manga Artist Modomu Akagawara

Thank you so much for making The Failure at God School into a TV anime!

As the manga artist responsible for the comic edition, I could not be happier.

I am filled with gratitude toward original story creator Natsu Hyuuga, our editors, everyone on the anime production team, everyone who has supported the project, and all the readers who have continued to cheer us on.

As a viewer myself, I am very much looking forward to seeing the characters of God School come alive, move, and speak on screen!
