Armiger Entertainment’s Kickstarter campaign page for itsTenchi Galaxypilot anime announced earlier this week that several of the original Japanese voice cast from the Tenchi Muyo! franchise are reprising their respective roles. The pilot’s Japanese language version was part of the project’s initial stretch goal of US$450,000.
The returning Japanese voice cast for the anime pilot will include:

Nanao replaced the retiredYumi Takedafor the role of Ayeka inTenchi Muyo! Ryo-OhkiSeason 4 andAi Tenchi Muyo. Tomizawa took over the role of Mihoshi inRyo-OhkiSeason 4 after the passing ofYuko Mizutaniin 2016.
Ten hard copies of the Japanese script will also be signed byTenchi Galaxy’s directorHiroshi Negishi(Ai Tenchi Muyo!director,Tenchi Muyo GXP Paradise Startingchief director) and the Japanese voice cast. The limited amount of signed copies will be available for purchase as a campaign add-on on August 29, 2026 at 12:00 PM EST / 9:00 AM PST.

The anime pilot’s Kickstarter project has so far collected US$768,324 in total funding, with 10 days left in its campaign, as of August 28, 2026. After the campaign reached a stretch goal of US$700,000, it was confirmed that hololive VTuber Nerissa Ravencroft(who voices Risa in the pilot) would contribute an original song for the pilot that will be used as its ending theme.
Another stretch goal of US$800,000 was set last week that will have Negishi provide a director’s commentary for the anime pilot. He will be joined by other members of the voice cast and staff, which will be announced later in the future.
Tenchi Galaxyis described as a “spiritual sequel” to the 1995Tenchi UniverseTV anime series. Its premise is described as:
Tenchi Galaxy follows the Tenchi gang as they travel to the planet of the space pirates, MIKUNI, in search of an artifact that was stolen from Jurai. In order to get it back, they must face NIIMI, the queen of the space pirates. What dangers await them? What connection does Niimi have to Ryoko? And whose side is Nagi on?
The Tenchi Muyo! franchise was created byMasaki Kajishimaand has spawned multiple TV anime installments taking place in different continuities, as well as anime films, manga, novels, video games, and a stage play.
