Tamil actor Arya has landed in legal trouble after a cheating case was registered against him at Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills Police Station over alleged unpaid equipment rental dues linked to his upcoming film Ananthan Kaadu. According to reports by ETimes and Hindustan Times, a camera equipment rental company accused the actor and the film’s producers of failing to clear outstanding payments amounting to over Rs 1.80 crore
Arya lands in legal soup
The complaint was filed by Taher Cine Tech, a Hyderabad-based company that supplies high-end camera and filming equipment for movie productions. The firm alleged that it had provided and transported equipment for the film’s shoot in Kerala. The total bill reportedly stood at Rs 2.12 crore, of which only a small portion was paid, leaving dues of more than Rs 1.80 crore unpaid despite repeated reminders
Following the complaint, police registered a cheating case against Arya and the producers associated with the project. Authorities have begun an investigation into the allegations to determine whether there was deliberate intent to avoid payment or if the matter stems from a contractual dispute. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing
The case has drawn attention within theSouth Indian film industry, where disputes over production finances and vendor payments occasionally surface during large-scale projects. However, legal experts note that the outcome will depend on the findings of the police investigation and any contractual agreements between the parties involved
Neither Arya nor the makers of Ananthan Kaadu had issued an official statement at the time the reports emerged. Their response is expected as the investigation progresses
All about Arya’s workfront
Arya is a prominent name in Tamil cinema and has starred in films such as Madrasapattinam, Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Sarpatta Parambarai and Captain. His upcoming project Ananthan Kaadu has been generating interest among fans, making the legal development a significant talking point
For now, the allegations remain under investigation, and no court has determined wrongdoing. The police are expected to examine financial records, agreements and statements from all parties before taking further action. Further developments in the case are awaited
