A highly anticipated PS5 action adventure game seems to have been delayed into 2028, possibly skipping a disc launch as a result. We first heard rumors of Tomb Raider: Catalyst‘s potential delay several months ago, and just before the weekend, Amazon Games boss Jeffrey Gattis seemingly confirmed the report.

The planned phase-out of physical video games by 2028 is one of the main drivers behind the protest.

In case you missed it, Sony has already confirmed a PS Plus Essential August 2026 game for the PS5. Included in February’s PlayStation State of Play was the announcement that Untitled Goose Game creator’s next adventure, Big Walk, will be available on PS Plus as a monthly freebie. The game later received an August release date.

In rather unsavory news to start the week, Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) download codes will be region-locked on the PS5, while Xbox Series X|S will be free of that restriction. Following months of rumors and speculation, it was confirmed last month that GTA 6 won’t launch on disc on either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, as all retail copies of the game will be a download code, with the status of an actual disc release still uncertain.
