The US National Football League’s (NFL) next big games are getting an unusually heavy dose of entertainment.

U2 is slated to headline halftime of the league’s first Thanksgiving Eve game next month, while Jay-Z will reportedly headline Super Bowl LXI in February. The Super Bowl will also get an animated alternate broadcast that places the game in the “Star Wars” universe.

The impact is not necessarily what one would expect, however, and it was not the only factor.

Nielsen just released its first Scarborough NFL Fandom Index. The study ranks every market by true fan intensity ahead of the 2026 season.
