ELKHART — Families can celebrate Hispanic culture with music, food, dancing and fireworks at the fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival from noon to 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Central Green, 300 S. Main St.
It’ll be Hispanic Heritage Month in just a few short days! While there’s never a bad time to read books by Latine creators and/or about Latine characters, the month-long period from September 15 to October 15 is an especially appropriate occasion for doing so.
Growing up in a Mexican-American family in Florida, Hispanic culture wasn’t something celebrated once a year. It was woven into daily life through food, music, traditions and family gatherings.
