The money comes from the Sudbury Wolves’ Play it Forward program in which 50/50 draws directly support local families and children who might otherwise miss out on the benefits of sports and recreation.
Legion members volunteer their time to aid in these draws.
The $17,000 has been earmarked to “help support local military families by providing opportunities for their children to participate in sport,” a Sudbury Wolves Sports & Entertainment spokesperson said.
“We’re incredibly proud to see the Usher Program continue to make a meaningful impact in our community, and we’re grateful to everyone involved in helping make this contribution possible.”
The Sudbury Wolves’ Play it Forward website notes, “By purchasing a 50/50 ticket, you’re not only entering for a chance to win—you’re investing in your community. Together, we’re creating a healthier, more inclusive Sudbury where every child has the chance to play, grow, and belong.”
