Steam Machine engineer Yazan Aldehayyat comments on the hardware launch and the memory supply issues. These comments come after Valve launched its take on a living-room gaming PC for over $1,000.

One of the major stories in the industry in 2026 is the rising cost of RAM and the resulting increase in hardware prices. Now, an engineer who worked on the Steam Machine is the latest to warn players that prices don’t appear to be going down anytime soon.

These latest comments come from an interview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. In the interview, Yazaj Aldehayyat touched on the main mission of bringing PC gaming into the living room, and he believes this machine solves that problem.

“We suspect that the Steam Machine is a really good way to solve a very real problem that people have,” Aldehayyat said. “If that’s borne out to be true, from our opinion, it’s a success.”

Furthermore, Aldehayyat believes that the pricing issue will eventually resolve itself because either prices will come down or this will become the new normal, and players will stop questioning it. Then, he goes into why he believes the RAM issue is getting worse

“Honestly, it’s still getting worse,” Aldehayyat said. “Just in case people are not aware. What people are seeing on retail shelves right now, from our observations, is lagging what we’re seeing from a bulk supply by at least three to six months.”

Similar comments about the RAM issue worsening before it levels out and becomes the new normal were recently made by Lenovo. Read those comments here.
