TheStar TrekUniverse panel descends on The Big Apple this fall.

Fans have yet another opportunity to celebrate 60 years of boldly going where no one has gone before when the Star Trek Universe panel sets its coordinates for the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and this year’s New York Comic Con.

In addition to celebrating the science fiction franchise’s Diamond anniversary, Trekkies, Trekkers, and newcomers to the fandom will be treated to “an exclusive sneak peek and conversation about the upcoming sophomore season” (per TV Insider) of Starfleet Academy.

According to the same report, there will be “surprise guests” on hand in The Big Apple to celebrate Star Trek’s 60th anniversary. I took the liberty of visiting New York Comic Con’s official website, and, at the time of this writing (Monday, Aug. 24), there aren’t any Trek actors listed under the guests section. So, yes, it appears the powers that be are keeping who is involved quite the secret.

I truly hope more Star Trek actors show up in New York to represent the franchise as it turns the big 60. The panel assembled for the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con only featured a total of 10 actors, who each represented a different Trek show. The headliners were clearly Hikaru Sulu himself, George Takei of The Original Series and everyone’s favorite Klingon from The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, Worf (Michael Dorn).

Don’t get me wrong, the Star Trek Universe panel at SDCC was wonderful. However, iconic names – those who were literally captains of the sci-fi saga – like William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula were all no-shows. So, yes, I’m hoping at least one of these heavy hitters are in the lineup when NYCC rolls around and celebrates its own 20th anniversary this fall.

The Star Trek Universe panel, which will celebrate 60 years of sci-fi magic and tease Starfleet Academy season 2, takes place on the Empire Stage at 3:15 ET on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Javits Center in New York City.

For more information and to purchase tickets, please check out New York Comic Con’s website. Plus, for more Trek content and NYCC updates, visit the Redshirts Always DieFacebook and X pages.
