Square Enix has hinted that it’s “not entirely impossible” that we could see Final Fantasy 15 on Nintendo Switch 2

Addressing shareholders in a recent meeting, one attendee pointed to the Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy 7, asking: “Does the Final Fantasy 7 remake released on the Nintendo Switch 2 imply that it is technically feasible to port other past entries from the Final Fantasy series? I would like to see a Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 15. Are you considering that?”

While the unnamed respondent admitted there are “certain hardware constraints” when it comes to “faithfully replicating” the game on Nintendo’s latest console, “it is not entirely impossible”

“As to whether we will actually deploy it on the Nintendo Switch 2, we will pass along your input to the development team as a valuable perspective on marketing and future platform options,” the respondent added

Interestingly, a different attendee asked about Final Fantasy’s “high-quality graphics and action-oriented gameplay”, wondering if there was scope to “develop a style that updates and refines the graphics while retaining” its combat systems and not “undertaking” full remakes

“As part of our market-in approach, we engage in trial and error to establish what is best for contemporary customers based on current market needs and trends,” Square Enix said in response. “In doing so, it is extremely important to us that we strike the right balance between our approach and the expectations of players who loved the original works. While specific titles may call for specific mechanics, we will continue our development efforts by assessing what truly resonates within the current market environment for both original titles and new remakes.”

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is, of course, set to finish the story that started all the way back in 2020 with the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake – but that ending may not be as definitive as you might have expected

Recently, an Epic Games Store database leak revealed a whole host of add-ons the game is set to receive, alongside different versions it will launch with. Square Enix has not officially announced any of that, but the listings are descriptive enough to generate a lot of speculation
