We’re back to recap a great couple weeks of Comics & Manga we read here at GamingTrend.com! Sorry we missed last week’s recap and comics, I had surgery and was sick all around that time period!
We have a bunch to showcase this week: featuring Dark Horse Comics, Marvel Comics, and Titan Comics/Manga!
Keep an eye out for a preview of the comics we’re covering this week!
The Smart Division – Issue #1
FBI in it’s newest form fighting AI crimes and criminals who know the old ways of the FBI a little too well. When you place an older veteran of the force with a plucky and a little chaotic younger agent, you get The Smart Division.
The art is absolutely my favorite part of this series. From the text bubble styles to the colors tones, this feels extremely noir while also bringing a new flair to the genre. The first issue is a slow burn, but it sets up for, what should be, an interesting story!
A dark and modern sci-fi detective series set five minutes in the future. When a mysterious new predictive artificial intelligence program appears responsible for assisting someone in the perfect murder, a pair of unlikely investigators, a chaotic Gen-Z savant and a veteran FBI agent, must hunt down the killer by starting the FBI’s first AI crimes division.Creator Zack Kaplan (Kill All Immortals, Masterminds, Port of Earth) and Eisner-winning artist John Pearson (In Bloom, The Infernals, The Department of Truth) reunite for the first timesince their fan-favorite sci-fi horror series, Mindset!Five-issue series.
Dark Horse Comics
X-Men of Apocalypse Omega – Issue #1
A perfect one-shot has Jeph Loeb bringing us through a heartbreaking yet action-packed set of circumstances, some we haven’t seen the likes of in a long time.
This book sets up for the next wave of X-Men comics and brings Gambit to the forefront in a surprising way.
If you’re looking for a great new version of the X-Men of Apocalypse, this could be a gateway to a new era of X-Men for fans!
The Foundry – Issue 1
Where to begin with The Foundry! Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson put together a story of spies and supernatural beings. Hunting for civilizations that came before, went into hiding, or came from far far away.
The art is fabulous and there is always something interesting to look at in the foreground and background. You’ll see characters from both Witchfinder and The British Paranormal Society. So if you’ve read those books, be sure to pick up The Foundry!
Meet the Queen’s own secret agency that investigates the paranormal and the mysterious! Characters from Witchfinder and The British Paranormal Society join together in this adventure series where they travel the world over seeking out supernatural-powered technologies and the stories of the civilizations that harnessed them—for good and for evil.Longtime Hellboy universe writer Chris Roberson and fan-favorite artist Christopher Mitten reunite for this series that will take readers around the world—and hopefully back again!Four-issue series.
Dark Horse Comics
Star Wars: The Fall Of Kylo Ren – Issue #1
Charles Soule does it again and makes Kylo Ren interesting outside of his relationship to Rey. After his insane journey through Anakin Skywalker’s past in the last series, The Fall of Kylo Ren takes place in between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker explaining a little more about how our Supreme Leader ended up as he was when we see him at the start of the movie.
The artwork for this series has been amazing, using a mixture of the early Disney Marvel Star Wars run with the newer runs of Darth Vader. If you’re a fan of the sequels looking for a book that can bring it all together, this is another addition to the collection!

From forwards to inserts and all of the drawings, paintings, and photos; any fan of Alien will be pleased with this collection.
Originally published in 1979, Giger’s Alien is the ultimate illustrated diary on Giger’s involvement in the making of the movie Alien and its titular monster, the Xenomorph. The classic status of Alien, the movie, is in large part due to Academy-Award winning artist and designer H. R. Giger. This book provides a complete illustrated record of…

Conan the Barbarian – Issue #33
Conan the Barbarian #33 sees the Cimmerian trade the battlefield for the open sea as he embraces a life of piracy with the Red Brotherhood. With interesting side characters, plenty of action balanced well with moments of levity, and a still unknown supernatural threat looming on the horizon, the issue is an exciting start to what looks to be a fantastic new arc for the character.
