Sin: Reloaded details huge list of improvements and changes, is 4K 120 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2 with mouse controls supported

We have a ton of details about what’s new in Sin: Reloaded, as Nightdive Studios has shared information about the various improvements and changes that have been made. On top of that, we have insight into what you can expect from the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

Although the original shooter was a somewhat niche release back in the day, the upcoming launch of Sin: Reloaded is a pretty significant milestone. Fans have been waiting for this one for years. Nightdive originally announced plans to remaster the game in 2020 with a release in 2021. The project was put on the backburner for quite some time, but it’s now just a couple of weeks away from its debut.

Grover Wimberly IV, project manager and producer/director at Nightdive, recently spoke extensively about the work the team is putting in for the Sin: Reloaded remaster. Here’s what was shared with us:

“One thing that I know just off the top of my head is that there’s a lot of points of interest – things that we felt might have been blended into the table, like getting keys, for example. In the Freeport City bank, it was hard to determine, “Is this key just a part of the office furniture, or is this something that you actually have to interact with and pick up to proceed through the level?” We put exclamation marks and points of interest on top of things like that to make it a little bit easier to understand.

Episode five in particular had a lot of backtracking in Sin Gold and we changed the level design of that to be a little bit more linear and more straight focused.

We did touch ups on every level, but we added additional textures, additional decorations. Levels like the Silo or the Chem one, we made overhauls to the gameplay. We made it a lot less punishing and more interesting. Kind of got rid of a lot of – the team calls it 90s jank, so we got rid of as much as that as we were able to. We have a higher tick rate overall, so the game feels a lot more responsive than Sin Gold.

We fixed up the music system. We also added a bunch of unused dialogue from the games. Characters will have a lot of additional interactions and stuff that were cut from the original game. We found those additional dialogue and additional voice samples and implemented it in more places. When players play side by side and they compare Sin Gold to Sin Reloaded, it’s like oh wow, there are a lot of interactions and a lot of additions that weren’t in the original game.”

Aside from what was mentioned above, Nightdive implemented the following:

    – Weapons changes
    – Dual Magnums can be fired and loaded independently
    – Ability to steer the Spider Mines remotely
    – The crossbow now has a detonator switch
    – The Pulse Gun lightning now chains between enemies
    – The Speargun is now more effective when used underwater
    – The flamethrower deals way more damage
    –  Many miscellaneous weapon updates and tweaks

As for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game specifically, we were told that it will run at 4K resolution and 120 frames per second. Note that handheld mode should limit things to a 1080p resolution since that is the screen’s maximum resolution. Also, we can confirm that mouse controls are supported as an option.

Sin: Reloaded launches on September 24, 2026. Find more Nintendo Switch 2 news here.
