On 29 October, the official website for Shin Oishinbo, the new television anime based on Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki’s Oishinbomanga, announced six additional cast members and both theme song artists. Yui Makino performs the opening theme, “PROMISE ME,” and Skoop On Somebody performs the ending theme, “Akashi” (Proof).
The six new roles are all of the staff at the Tōzai Shimbun, the newspaper where protagonists Shirō Yamaoka and Yūko Kurita work. The anime is scheduled to air in 2027.

The six newly announced cast members are:
-
Tōru Furusawa as Hideo Tanimura, deputy editor-in-chief and Culture Department manager
-
Kōsuke Echigoya as Tomio Tomii, Culture Department deputy manager
-
Nobuo Tobita as Taizō Ōhara, the newspaper’s owner
-
Hiroshi Naka as Kyōichi Koizumi, director and editor-in-chief
-
Kyō Yaoya as Kinue Arakawa, a Culture Department reporter and a senior colleague to Kurita
-
Hiroko Ushida as Noriko Mitani, another Culture Department reporter
The new actors join the previously announced main cast, featuring Yohei Azakami as Shirō Yamaoka, Hitomi Sasaki as Yūko Kurita, and Akio Otsuka as Yūzan Kaibara. Otsuka plays the same role his late father, Chikao Otsuka, played in the earlier anime. That television series ran from 1988 to 1992, and Shin Oishinbo is the franchise’s first new anime since the 1993 television special.
Makino, who works as both a voice actress and a singer, said she read the original manga as a child.
“I feel incredibly honored to be involved as the opening theme song artist in this work, which continues to shine even brighter across generations.”
Skoop On Somebody, who will mark their 30th anniversary next year, commented as a group.
“We sincerely hope that this song will transcend generations and, along with this wonderful work, deliver ‘love’ to as many people as possible.”

Shin Oishinbo is scheduled to air in 2027. Kenichi Nishida is directing the series, while Takahiro Nagano is in charge of series composition, and Nozomi Kawashige is designing the characters.
Shin Oishinbo is a direct sequel to the 1988-1992 television anime, set in the 1990s, and will continue the contest between Tōzai Shimbun’s “Ultimate Menu” and Yūzan Kaibara’s “Supreme Menu.” Shin-Ei Animation, which produced the earlier series, is overseeing production, with animation by SynergySP and Vega Entertainment.
A teaser video featuring the leads’ voices was released on October 1. Before the hiatus, the manga ran in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits and has more than 135 million copies in circulation. While the 2027 release window is confirmed, no premiere date, broadcast network, or streaming platform has been announced yet.
