The independent game “Meccha Chameleon” emerged as a notable success in the gaming industry in June. According to Newzoo, it was the second most profitable PC game during this period, following “Fortnite.” The game, created by indie developers Lemorion_1224 and Hagneiro, was released on June 10 and has already seen sales surpassing 15 million units. Additionally, it entered Newzoo’s PC engagement rankings at number six.

This initial sales performance has outpaced other popular titles such as “Lethal Company,” which managed to sell over 10 million copies within six months, and “Fall Guys,” which attained seven million sales in just one month. Newzoo’s market analyst Mert Şahin emphasized that “Meccha Chameleon’s” swift commercial achievements illustrate that smaller-budget multiplayer games with strong social elements can perform impressively in the market, even alongside major gaming franchises.

Meanwhile, “Paralives,” an indie life simulation game, positioned itself at number seven, slightly above “The Sims 4,” while “Dead by Daylight” experienced a notable rise, reaching number ten after celebrating its tenth anniversary. Şahin highlighted this as evidence of how ongoing content updates can boost long-term revenues for established live-service games.

In Newzoo’s pre-order rankings, “Grand Theft Auto 6” emerged as the top console title, amassing an estimated $260 million in global revenue within five days of pre-orders. The game is slated for a November 19 release.

Newzoo’s engagement reports revealed that there were minimal shifts among leading titles across PC and console platforms, with “Fortnite,” “Counter-Strike 2,” “Minecraft,” “Roblox,” and “League of Legends” retaining a strong foothold in player engagement charts compared to newer releases.

The analytics firm also observed a significant climb for “Obsidian’s Grounded,” which moved up over 250 positions to secure the 16th spot on console engagement charts following its availability on PlayStation Plus. Şahin stated that this underlines the potential of gaming subscription services to renew the popularity of existing titles by engaging with both new and past audiences.
