BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) —A Boca Raton man was arrested after investigators say he tried to use a stolen credit card to buy aPlayStation 5, hours after a vehicle burglary in which a U.S. Secret Service badge and identification card were among the items taken.

Jahwon Jahvonni Galette, 20, faces charges of fraudulent use of a credit card to obtain goods valued at more than $100, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began on July 19, after PBSO said its deputies responded to a reported vehicle burglary at a home on Villa Nova Drive in Boca Raton. The victim reported finding his 2025 Chevrolet Silverado ransacked with items scattered throughout the vehicle and driveway.

The victim told deputies that a U.S. Secret Service badge and identification card had been stolen from the vehicle’s center console, along with about $100 in cash, a backpack containing survival equipment, a wallet and several credit cards. The affidavit also states that credit cards belonging to a second victim were taken during the burglary.

According to investigators, one of the stolen credit cards, aUSAA Visa card, was used in an attempted purchase at a Walmart in Lighthouse Point at about 7:30 a.m. The transaction for $640.93 was declined.

Detectives with the South Florida Criminal Apprehension Team reviewed surveillance footage from the Walmart and from multiple burglaries reported in the neighborhood. Investigators said video showed two men arriving at the store in a gray Hyundai Genesis before entering the business.

The affidavit states that surveillance footage captured Galette inside the store attempting to purchase a PlayStation 5 with the stolen credit card. Investigators said the victim’s stolen wallet was visible during the transaction.

Detectives also citedGPS monitoring data from an ankle monitor allegedly being worn by Galette at the time. According to the affidavit, the GPS records placed Galette at the Walmart location during the same time period documented by the store’s surveillance cameras.

Investigators said surveillance footage from the burglary area and the Walmart, along with the GPS data, led them to identify Galette as a suspect. Authorities subsequently obtained an arrest warrant charging him with fraudulent use of a credit card.

Galette was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on July 23 and was being held without bond, according to jail records included with the arrest paperwork.
