Campaign from CALLEN features an anonymous masked gamer who will compete against top Twitch streamers across some of gaming’s biggest titles in a series of weekly livestream challenges
Sandisk has launched a new campaign to push the boundaries of innovation, not just by traditional product ads, but by creating characters and immersive experiences rooted in how their communities play, create, and connect.
Last year that meant Memory Man, a five-foot-two robot who embedded himself with creators to capture the behind-the-scenes creative process. Now, Sandisk and creative agency CALLEN have partnered once again to take that imaginative approach into a new gaming campaign with OP – an anonymous masked gamer who will compete against top Twitch streamers across some of gaming’s biggest titles in a series of weekly livestream challenges.
What’s unconventional isn’t the format of the livestreams themselves; it’s the character Sandisk and CALLEN co-created that brings it to life. Gamers appreciate brands who support the community and authentically enter conversations, so the character meets audiences where they already are, plays authentically within their spaces, and contributes genuinely to their culture.
Created for Sandisk’s new SANDISK Optimus line of gaming SSDs, OP turns a familiar gaming term – “overpowered” – into the “OP” character. Hidden behind a mask and modulated voice, OP isn’t tied to any one game or genre; instead, they are built to move between titles and take on top players in the games they know well.
The innovative campaign officially kicks off when OP will take over the SANDISK Optimus Twitch channel for the first of eight weekly livestreams. The debut will see OP playing alongside top streamers TenZ, Doublelift, and Aramori from the Sentinels (a Sandisk official partner). Over the following weeks, OP will continue to play alongside top streamers across new and popular titles.

“At Sandisk, we believe humans and technology can make magic together,” said Heidi Arkinstall, VP global consumer brand and digital marketing at Sandisk. “For gamers, SANDISK Optimus represents just that: the pursuit of better performance, speed, and built for how gamers use gaming PCs and consoles today – for gameplay, livestreaming and engaging with their online communities. Bringing those capabilities to life through a character gives gamers a fun, memorable way to experience what the brand represents and what our products can do.”
“When we embarked on this project, we realised that a traditional campaign wasn’t going to cut it if we wanted to earn the trust of gamers,” said Craig Allen, founder and chief creative officer at CALLEN. “OP isn’t an advertisement; it’s a character. It meets its audience where they are, participates authentically in their spaces, and contributes to their culture rather than simply marketing to it. Building that level of trust also meant surrounding the character with the right partners, so we carefully selected top collaborators who brought high levels of credibility and authenticity to touchpoints.”
