It was an eventful Weekend Ka Vaar of Bigg Boss 20 this week with Salman Khan being visibly angry at contestants and many things that are being said about the celebrities.
During the course of the episode, Salman Khan spoke out against online trolling and body-shaming of actors and actresses in this day and age.
His comments specially came amid the social media backlash faced by new mom Katrina Kaif over her post-pregnancy appearance.
During the latest Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman Khan criticised people who target celebrities over their appearance, age and weight.
While he did not directly name Katrina Kaif, his remarks came after his former co-star of many films including Tiger Zinda Hai, faced online trolling following her recent public appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Addressing comments about women gaining weight after pregnancy, Salman Khan questioned why people feel the need to troll them. “Why do you troll somebody who gets pregnant?” he asked.
He went on to point out that weight gain can happen during pregnancy and said women should be given the time to spend time with their families rather than being judged for their physical appearance.
“Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight. Jab woh picture mein wapas ajayengi, woh fit ajayengi,” he said. (When the actress returns to films, they will get fit again.)

Salman Khan also spoke about the age-shaming he has faced himself and referring to his own age, Salman said: “Of course, I’m 60 years old, yaar. You cannot be Maine Pyaar Kiya all the time. In every show, this age has become suddenly, ‘woh budha hogaya hai’. What do you want to troll? Uske wajan par, uske looks par, uske khaandaan par, kisi ke smile par, kisi ke flop par, kisi ke maa banne par, aap apni upbringing dikha rahe ho.”
Salman Khan also took aim at people who attack celebrities personally instead of criticising their work. He said audiences are free to dislike a film or an actor’s performance, but that should not turn into personal abuse.
“Say that your work isn’t good, say that you didn’t like this film. You bought a ticket to watch the film. You didn’t buy us,” he said angrily.
Further he also demonstrated his point about body-shaming on stage. He removed his hat, jacket and T-shirt and wiped off his makeup before challenging trolls to comment on his appearance.

“Bhai mota ho gaya hai! Bhai ko troll karo,” Salman said.
He also criticised intrusive paparazzi coverage, particularly photographs focusing on women’s bodies. Salman Khan questioned the practice of taking shots of actresses from behind or focusing on their hips and legs without considering whether they are comfortable with such images.
