Ryan Reynolds' Grey Deadpool Has Marvel Fans Spinning New MCU Theories
    • Ryan Reynolds surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 by appearing in a grey-and-black Deadpool suit, sparking speculation about his role in the MCU.
    • Fans theorize that Reynolds’ new Deadpool appearance, dubbed “Jeanpool,” may hint at future Marvel projects, including a potential crossover with Avengers: Doomsday.
    • Despite Marvel’s silence on the matter, Reynolds’ public stunt has ignited excitement among fans for the possibility of more Deadpool content in the MCU.

Marvel Studios packed San Diego Comic-Con 2026 with multiple major reveals. But one of the biggest talking points wasn’t an official announcement. It was a surprise appearance by Ryan Reynolds in a grey-and-blackDeadpool suit, walking around the convention floor, clicking pictures with the audience as a cosplayer.

No one noticed who was beneath the mask until he crashed Marvel’s presentation and asked the star-studded Avengers: Doomsday cast when filming would start. The moment got better when Robert Downey Jr. replied that the movie is already “in the can, bro.” While Marvel never explained why he was wearing the different suit, fans have started to spin stories connecting to Deadpool‘s comic book history.

The new suit seems to resemble Deadpool’s Uncanny X-Force costume, where Wade Wilson wore a grey suit, and a similar skin is also available in the Marvel Rivals game. Marvel did not comment on Reynolds’ new appearance, but fans think that there’s more to it.

What Grey Deadpool Means to Marvel Fans and the MCU

After Ryan Reynolds shared photos of his new Deadpool appearance on social media, fans filled the comments with their own theories. While many praised his public move, others believed he wouldn’t choose such a specific costume without a reason, especially with Avengers: Doomsday’s release on the horizon.

One user on X, @camcowleyfilmz, wrote, “Deadpool is going to be in Avengers: Doomsday.” Another user, @SpiderManVibe, commented, “Grey Deadpool in MCU is going to be so peak omfg.”

One fan, @ZangBerries, wrote, “I think people are overthinking Reynolds’ suit. It’s not just grey, it’s made out of denim! It’s a jeans version of Deadpool because Canada. He even captioned it as Jeanpool.” Others agreed that the outfit was likely just a joke rather than a hidden Marvel tease.

Moreover, Reynolds recently hinted that another Deadpool movie is in development. During Fanatics Fest, he teased, “There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great,” Whether Jeanpool is simply a Comic-Con joke or an early nod to future MCU projects remains unknown
