MUMBAI: Rohit Sharma is about to trade the pitch for prime time, and this time there is no scoreboard to chase. Sony Pictures Networks India has announced Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, marking the India World Cup-winning captain’s much-awaited entertainment debut.
The family entertainer will premiere on September 19, 2026, on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, adding a new dimension to the public life of one of Indian cricket’s biggest names.
Sharma arrives on the entertainment stage with a formidable cricketing record behind him. Across 288 matches and 280 innings, he has scored 11,895 ODI runs at an average of 48.95 and a strike rate of 93.04. His tally includes 34 centuries and 62 fifties, with a career-best 264.
That record puts Sharma seventh on the all-time ODI run-scoring list and makes him India’s third-highest run-scorer in the format, behind Virat Kohli’s 14,941 runs and Sachin Tendulkar’s 18,426.
His 2026 numbers also show that the bat has hardly gone quiet. In nine ODIs and nine innings this year, Sharma has accumulated 379 runs at an average of 42.11, including one century and one fifty, with a highest score of 138.
Now, the focus shifts from runs and records to a family entertainment format. Sony is positioning Family Full House with Rohit Sharma as a broad-based entertainer designed to appeal across age groups.
The show also marks an expansion of Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV’s entertainment offering, with the platforms highlighting their focus on distinctive, brand-safe and high-impact formats.
For Sharma, meanwhile, the September 19 premiere represents a move into a completely different arena, one where his ability to hold an audience will be tested without a bat in hand.
