Television actor Rohit Chandel has suffered a setback after his bail plea was reportedly rejected by the court. The actor, who was recently arrested in an alleged POCSO case, will continue to remain in judicial custody as legal proceedings continue. Reports suggest the matter may be taken up for hearing again on Monday, though there is no official confirmation.

According to a report by Telly Express, Rohit will continue to remain in judicial custody following the rejection of his bail plea. The judicial records have not specified the reason behind the court’s decision. Reports further suggest that the matter may be listed for hearing again on Monday. However, there is no official confirmation. Until then, Rohit will remain in judicial custody as the legal proceedings continue.
Rohit Chandel arrested in POCSO case
Rohit Chandel, known for his roles in Pandya Store and Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, was recently arrested by the Ghatkopar police for allegedly stalking, repeatedly calling, harassing, and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in an eastern suburb of Mumbai.
Police have booked the actor under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. As per the complaint, the accused, who is a resident of an eastern suburb, had allegedly repeatedly called the minor on her mobile phone from his number as well as several other numbers, allegedly harassing her.
The complaint further alleges that on July 5, he confronted the girl near her residential building, chased her, picked up an argument, abused her, and assaulted her by hitting her with his hands.
Following reports of the arrest, several social media users began claiming that Drashti Bhanushali was the minor mentioned in the case. Responding to the speculation, the actress told mid-day, “I have no knowledge of the ongoing case and request everyone to stop associating my name with it. I am no longer in touch with the person concerned and have no connection to this matter. It is disappointing that some co-actors are indirectly dragging my name into this issue without knowing the facts.”
Rohit’s co-star Madirakshi Mundle deleted her Instagram account days after reacting to Rohit Chandel’s arrest in the alleged minor assault case. The actress had expressed shock over the allegations and urged people to let the investigation take its course before reaching conclusions.
