Cut the Rope Tower Defense will use physics-based combat instead of traditional stat-based towers

    • Players will collect and evolve characters from the Om Nom Stories cast.
    • The game is being built specifically for Roblox rather than adapted from the mobile game.
    • Cut the Rope has surpassed 1.8bn downloads since launching in 2010.

Rocket Fuel Games and ZeptoLab have partnered to bring Cut the Rope and Om Nom to Roblox through Cut the Rope Tower Defense.

The new tower defence experience is currently in development and will combine Roblox’s familiar tower defence structure with physics-based combat.

Players will place craftable contraptions that physically affect enemies, including rope towers that redirect enemies, gravity bubbles that slow waves and chain-cut towers that trigger hazards.

Both parties claimed Cut the Rope has been downloaded more than 1.8 billion times since its 2010 debut, while Om Nom Stories has more than 290 episodes.

Characters from the Om Nom Stories cast will also have distinct physics behaviours alongside their attacks. The game is designed mobile-first for Roblox, featuring landscape play, a simple tap-to-place control and largely wordless visual comedy.

Game design is led by Wes Leviton, who worked on SpongeBob Tower Defense, winner of Best IP Experience at the 2025 Roblox Innovation Awards.

“Om Nom has found audiences across mobile, animation and merchandise, and Roblox is where a huge part of our next generation of players already spends its time,” said ZeptoLab head of business development Ekaterina Baturina.

“We were looking for a partner who would build something native to the platform rather than port a mobile game onto it. Rocket Fuel’s approach respects what makes Cut the Rope recognisable while doing something genuinely new with it.”

Rocket Fuel Games CEO Fahad Moeen commented: “Cut the Rope has always run on ropes, arcs and timing – players already think in terms of what a single cut will set off. That instinct is a tower defense game waiting to happen.

“Tower defense is also the most demanding genre on Roblox to get right, and it is the one we know best. We are not reskinning a genre; we are rebuilding its combat on the physics this franchise invented.”
