    • The RoboCop TV series has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and is greenlit for production, focusing on a soldier named Marc Kyle.
    • The show will be developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse’s Atomic Monster, with the story written by Peter Ocko and executive produced by James Wan and Ed Neumeier.
    • The reboot of the RoboCop TV show aims to honor the original while bringing a fresh and urgent vision to captivate a new generation of fans on Prime Video, according to statements from James Wan and Peter Friedlander.

The RoboCopTV show receives a long-awaited update. It comes after a lengthy development process since 2022 when Amazon acquired MGM.

What is the update on the RoboCop TV show?

The RoboCop TV series has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and is greenlit for production, as per Variety. The show will have eight episodes and be developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse’s Atomic Monster.

It will reportedly focus on the soldier named Marc Kyle. The official logline reads, “A giant tech conglomerate convinces the city to place a powerful robot on its police force – a robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer.”

The story for the new series is who will also serve as the executive producer and showrunner. Executive producers also include James Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Ed Neumeier, the co-creator and co-writer of the original RoboCop film. Danielle Bozzone will co-executive produce the series

The franchise began in 1987 with a sequel made in 1990, followed by a third installment in 1993. A RoboCop reboot was released in 2014, followed by several TV shows, including two animated versions. It also has over 15 standalone video games.

In a statement shared by Wan, he said, “I’ve been a massive fan of ‘RoboCop’ forever, so getting to help bring this world to television is a dream. What Paul Verhoeven created in 1987 was decades ahead of its time, and its questions about technology, identity, and who corporations really serve have only grown more urgent.”

“Peter Ocko has crafted a vision that honors the soul of what made the original so enduring while building something entirely fresh and urgent for today. Paired with the cinematic sensibility of James Wan and the team at Blumhouse Atomic Monster, we believe this series will captivate a whole new generation of fans on Prime Video,” added Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios.

As of now, no plot details, cast members, or release date have been revealed by the Studios.
