Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story is getting an anime adaptation in 2027, with a teaser trailer, teaser visual, and its first cast members now revealed.
Yume Miyamoto will voice Red Riding Hood, while Akira Sekine will play Pinocchio. You can watch the teaser trailer below:
Set in a world where classic fairy tales hide murder mysteries, the story follows Red Riding Hood as she travels from one tale to another, using sharp deduction to solve crimes and expose the truth behind seemingly magical incidents. Along the way, she crosses paths with familiar fairy tale characters who are often hiding more than they first appear.
The newly revealed teaser visual places a smirking Red Riding Hood at the centre, with Pinocchio tucked inside a basket and several objects tied to the story scattered around them, hinting at the mysteries to come.
The teaser trailer also features one of Red Riding Hood’s signature lines from the original novels: “Why is your crime plan so sloppy?”, offering an early glimpse at the series’ playful detective tone.

With more than 600,000 copies in circulation, the series has expanded into a multimedia franchise that includes a manga adaptation. Its Netflix live-action film adaptation also became the first Japanese movie to reach No. 1 on Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 chart.
The anime will be produced by BENTEN Film. Itsuro Kawasaki is directing the series and handling series composition, while Manami Minakata and Yuko Yahiro are serving as character designers. Comments from both original author Aito Aoyagi and director Kawasaki were also released alongside the announcement.
