After Ramayana’s grand showcase at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Yash interacted with the media and opened up about playing Ravana in the ambitious epic. The actor also praised co-star Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama, calling him a fabulous actor, while sharing why the role was one of the most challenging of his career.

Yash on the challenges of portraying Ravana

Speaking about the most challenging aspect of portraying Ravana, Yash said, “The biggest challenge was that Ramayana is a story everyone knows and one that has been told in countless ways. From small villages to television and films in different regional languages, so many actors have portrayed these characters. To present Ravana in a way that feels authentic, while also bringing something unique to the role, was the biggest challenge.”

    On co-producing Ramayana

Opening up about co-producing the film,Yash said, “My vision has always been to take Indian stories to a global platform, and Namit shares the same belief. As an industry, we have grown tremendously over the years and are doing very well in our country. Every actor who came on board this film did so with one vision – to showcase our talent on the global stage. This is a proud moment for the Indian film industry.”

Yash praises Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama

Lauding Ranbir Kapoor for taking on the role of Lord Rama, Yash said, “Nobody in this world can come and say, ‘I have the virtue to play Lord Rama.’ The fact that Ranbir himself said that speaks volumes about him. He is a fabulous actor. It’s not easy to play Lord Rama, and the amount of work and dedication he has put into the role deserves immense respect.”

    More about Ramayana

The film is planned as a two-part release, with the first instalment arriving during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027.

The grand trailer launch of Ramayana took place in Delhi at the Pratham Sankalp event on July 18. However, the global trailer launch has been postponed, with the makers stating that the decision was taken in light of the ongoing student protest and a major international development for the film.

Apart from Ramayana, Yash is also gearing up for the release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The film is all set to release on August 26.
