Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s mythological epic is gathering pace in advance bookings a week before its November 5 release, according to trade estimates.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has reportedly sold about 1.33 lakh tickets for its opening day across the national multiplex chains PVR INOX and Cinepolis, the film had crossed that mark by 11 PM on Thursday, October 29.
The makers confirmed November 5 as the worldwide release date, and advance booking opened on Dussehra. With about a week to go, the booking window still has room to build.
The 1.33 lakh figure covers only PVR INOX and Cinepolis. According to the report, full advance booking is yet to open across several other cinema chains, single-screen theatres and markets in South India, which could add to the film’s total pre-release sales. Other trackers measure different things: Sacnilk reported worldwide advance bookings above $2 million as of October 25, a figure that is not comparable with the national-chain estimate above.
The days just before release often bring a big jump in ticket sales for high-profile films. The coming days will show whether early momentum turns into one of the stronger advance-booking performances among major Hindi releases. Trade analysts will also watch how the film compares with other big releases, though any comparison has to allow for differences in booking timelines, screen availability, languages and market coverage. Paid previews are reportedly planned for November 4, according to Sacnilk, citing Pinkvilla.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, in a large-scale retelling of the epic. With its scale, cast and subject, it is among the most closely watched theatrical releases of the year, and the pre-sales offer an early read on audience interest.
A promising start is not a guarantee, though. Actual box-office performance will depend on audience turnout, word of mouth and the film’s reception after release.ure is a trade estimate for opening-day sales across PVR INOX and Cinepolis as of October 29, not total bookings across all chains
