On October 14, 2026, ScreenRant reported that Marvel Comics character Frank Castle, known as the Punisher, has carried out some of the most extreme actions in his vigilante career across multiple comic storylines. According to ScreenRant, Castle’s methods differ from traditional heroes because he uses lethal force against criminals and often crosses ethical boundaries while pursuing his personal war on crime. ScreenRant highlighted Punisher MAX: The Slavers as one of Castle’s darkest stories, where he targets a human trafficking operation after rescuing a victim and learning about the abuse committed by the group.
The story shows Castle hunting the trafficking network while displaying unusual sensitivity toward the people he attempts to save. ScreenRant said the storyline also explores his doubts about whether his actions can permanently end such crimes.
In Punisher (2000) #11–12, ScreenRant described Castle’s confrontation with crime boss Ma Gnucci at the Central Park Zoo as another violent episode from Marvel Comics. According to the report, Castle uses the zoo environment against Gnucci’s associates before a final confrontation that leaves her severely injured after an attack involving polar bears.
ScreenRant also covered Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe, a 1995 miniseries where Castle begins a campaign against superpowered figures after his family’s death is connected to a conflict involving superheroes and alien invaders. The report said Castle kills characters including Cyclops, Hawkeye, Jubilee, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Venom, Kingpin, Captain America, and Doctor Doom in that alternate-universe story.
Another highlighted storyline was Punisher MAX: Long Cold Dark, which focuses on Castle’s feud with mercenary Barracuda. ScreenRant described the conflict as one of the most personal and violent rivalries in the character’s history. According to ScreenRant, Barracuda’s actions, including kidnapping Castle’s infant child, lead to a brutal confrontation that ends with Castle defeating him after a prolonged battle. The report also examined an incident from The Punisher MAX #5, where Castle kills two criminals by using one man as a weapon against another during a close-quarters attack.
ScreenRant’s list placed these events among the most disturbing examples of how far Frank Castle has gone in Marvel Comics while maintaining his role as an antihero rather than a traditional superhero.
