Prince George may have royal blood, but he’s still your average teen.

Nearly two weeks after Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son turned 13 on July 22, his royal parents shared he gets embarrassed by them just as any teenager would.

During a family outing to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 1, the Princess of Wales shared, per The Telegraph, that five-time Olympic champion cyclist Dame Laura had tried to convince her and William to give the sport “a go.”

In response, Kate—who was joined by William, as well as their kids George, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, at the event—quipped, “Be careful what you wish for as they want to put us on a tandem bike in the velodrome.”

After TV presenter Gethin Jones asked their three kids whether they’d want to see the pair take on the challenge, George simply replied, “No.”

As William quipped, “We embarrass you enough as it is.”

And Charlotte is showing some early signs of a headstrong teen herself. After Kate shared that Louis has been working on “perfecting” his handstand, he shared how his sister brings him back down to Earth.

“A bit,” Louis said. “But Charlotte says I’m not very good.”

William and Kate, both 44, marked George’s 13th birthday with a video shared to social media of the young royal enjoying time on holiday with his siblings.

As they captioned a clip shared to Instagram July 22, “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today!”

And while it’s only just begun, George’s upcoming year is already expected to be chalked full of special milestones, one of which being his enrollment in Eton College, where he’s set to start in September, Kensington Palace announced June 15.

The prestigious boarding school—which William and his brother Prince Harry attended as teenagers—educates boys 13 to 18 “to enable them to flourish and make a positive impact on others through the course of a healthy, happy and fulfilling life,” according to the school’s official website.

And William strives to do exactly that in his own parenting approach, though he joked it’s encouraged his kids talk about their feelings “sometimes too much.”

“I get all the details,” he said during a panel discussion for BBC Radio 1’s Life Hacks: Mental Health Special Feb. 18, “which I love, you know, it’s amazing.”

But like any dad, he’s still trying to combat the fatherly instinct of solving his kids’ problems for them.

“You feel a sense that you need to fix it, for everyone and that I find quite difficult,” William explained. “I have to remind myself that you don’t need to fix everything, but you need to listen and it’s important just to be OK with those feelings and those comments.”

Keep reading for more royal news.
