Level-5 is working on Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, the company just announced. The title arrives for both platforms in 2027.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake marks the return of the Nintendo DS classic. According to Level-5, exploration has been enhanced. Additionally, characters are now in 3D plus there’ll be high resolution and widescreen animations. The experience is also adapted for a single screen.

Here’s an overview of the game:

The tale begins as Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and famous archeologist, drives to the remote settlement of St. Mystere with his apprentice, Luke, in response to a request from the widow of a wealthy baron. The baron’s will indicates that the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within the village, and whoever finds it will inherit the whole of the Reinhold Estate. The Professor and Luke must search the town for clues leading to the precious heirloom.
