Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids have crossed that bridge once again with their grandad King Charles III

Days after the Duke of Sussex—who made the trip back to the U.K. for various Invictus Games events—arrived overseas, the couple’s children Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, had a rare reunion with their grandfather at Highgrove House, Buckingham Palace confirmed to the Daily Mail July 10

They also noted in their statement that “since this was a ‘private family occasion,’ no images will be released.”

The surprise family meeting comes nearly a year after Harry and Charles first reunited at Clarence House for a private tea amid their estrangement

In September 2025, Harry was seen stopping by the King’s London residence before heading to another engagement in the city

Even Harry’s decision to bring his family across the pond was a major step.

Having lost his appeal countering the U.K. government’s decision to deny him security protection after he and Meghan stepped away from their duties as senior royals, Harry initially said he was hesitant to return home

“I can’t see a world where I would be bringing my wife and kids back to the U.K. at this point,” he told the BBC in May 2025. “And the things that they’re going to miss is well, everything. I love my country. I always have, despite what some people in that country have done.”

And though that view has since changed—with Archie and Lili, indeed, saying cheerio to London—Harry also shared that the security concerns remained at the heart of the issues he has had with his dad

“A lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” Harry noted. “Also, that this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by aside allowing the experts what is necessary.”

However, a Palace spokesperson previously disputed Harry’s claims, telling E! News in a statement, “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

And though the dynamic between himself and his family—including brother Prince William—has shifted throughout the years, Harry has held out hope, especially in light of Charles’ cancer diagnosis

“I would love reconciliation with my family,” he told the BBC at the time. “I will always. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. I don’t know how much time my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”

“It would be nice,” Harry noted, “to have the reconciliation part now.”

But Harry’s kids and Charles coming to face-to-face again isn’t the only royal news that’s happened recently. Keep reading to see what else has happened around the world…
