If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, you can currently play a two-hour trial of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the long-awaited 2025 sequel to the cult classic RPG originally released in 2004.
According to HowLongToBeat, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 can take anywhere from around 16 to 35 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle. That makes the two-hour trial a great way to get a feel for the vampire RPG before committing to the full game.
Better yet, your game progress and trophies will carry over if you decide to purchase the full version, so you won’t have to start your playthrough from scratch.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 deserves a second chance after major updates
Granted, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 had a rocky launch, with players criticising its bugs, rough edges and overall lack of polish.
However, developer The Chinese Room has since released a substantial number of updates, addressing reported issues while also introducing improvements designed to bring the game closer to the studio’s original vision for the highly anticipated sequel.
What’s the story of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
“You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. You will explore the city through his eyes as well as those of the Nomad, as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that is threatening undead and mortal society alike,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war inVampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2,where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realised by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.”

What’s been fixed in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2?
The Chinese Room hasn’t simply focused on fixing reported bugs, either. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has received meaningful improvements to its combat systems, including expanded melee options such as swords and other weapons. You can also now attack while using ability targeting, a feature that wasn’t available when the game first launched.
Ranged combat has received an overhaul, too, giving the protagonist or antagonist, depending on how you play, Phyre more options in combat. If you prefer a long-range approach, you can even build Phyre into something of a sniper, adding another layer of flexibility to how you tackle encounters.
The way you approach quests has also been refined. Some previously mandatory quests have been moved into the side-quest category, giving you greater freedom over how you progress through the story while making your mission list feel less cluttered. On top of that, quest and exploration XP rewards have been increased, allowing you to level up more quickly and experiment with different abilities.
There have also been plenty of quality-of-life improvements. You can now make manual saves from the last checkpoint; there are additional fast-travel points, and new customisation options let you tailor the gameplay more closely to your preferences. Character customisation has also been expanded, alongside the expected bug fixes, stability improvements and other refinements.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, all of which have benefited from the post-launch updates.
