Former Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) president Shuhei Yoshida has revealed his preference of buying digital games, saying, “I’m completely digital.”

In an interview with GamerBraves, Yoshida was asked about Sony’s controversial decision to stop physical disc production in 2028. The former president said that he wasn’t aware of any plans of Sony killing physical disc production.

“But personally, I’m a totally digital consumer. I don’t want to manage discs or swap discs. I want all my games on my dashboard, and I just select a game and play it. So, I’m completely digital,” Yoshida shared.

He added that even if disc manufacturing were to completely stop, special editions such as collectors, could possibly continue. “For collectors who enjoy physical packages and special editions, I think they will still be able to purchase those physical packages.”

Yoshida also talked about the second-hand market for physical discs, and said that the lack of them, might become an issue. “For those people who choose to buy or sell games, the lack of discs may become an issue.”

Sony’s move to stop physical disc production was unexpected to say the least, reportedly even to its publishers and other business partners. The Japanese giant’s move was faced with backlash from gamers – and memes from brands like KFC and Domino’s – all around the world. Sony acknowledged the backlash, but didn’t backdown from its decision.

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery.
