As part of its latest earnings report, Sony said that it sold 1.3 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the quarter for a lifetime total of 95.3 million units.
Sony reported that it earned a net income of ¥57.82 billion on revenues of ¥2.8 trillion in the quarter ending June 30, 2026; the latter figure is a gain of 8 percent year-over-year (YOY). Its Game & Network Services business, which is responsible for PlayStation, delivered operating income of ¥202 billion on revenues of ¥937.1 billion; that is flat with the year-ago quarter.
Sony sold 66.1 billion first-party software titles in the quarter across PS4 and PS5, roughly flat with the year-ago quarter. 82 percent of those games were sold digitally, roughly even with the year-ago quarter. Best-selling titles (cumulatively) includeGod of War, with 23 million units sold (including on PC),Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition(20 million units, also including PC),God of War Ragnarok(15 million units),Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered(13.2 million), andGhost of Tsushima Director’s Cut(13 million).
Sony said that PlayStation monthly users reached 125 million accounts in June, up 2 percent YOY and a record high for that month. But total playtime declined 5 percent YOY, with Sony noting an unfavorable year-over-year comparable with major and new hit titles a year ago.
Sony also addressed the component crisis, explaining that it has secured the RAM it needs to meet its projected sales volume for the fiscal year that ends in mid-2027.
