Pearl Jam guitarist and rock legend Mike McCready has written a graphic novel and rock opera called “Mike McCready’s Farewell to Seasons”. It’ll be available worldwide Oct. 6.
He’s a rock icon. A guitarist who helped create the 1990s Seattle grunge-rock sound.
Now Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, who’s also played with Temple of the Dog and Mad Season, has written a graphic novel and “lost” rock opera called “Mike McCready’s Farewell to Seasons.”
On The Red Carpet caught up with McCready at San Diego Comic-Con, where he talked about the project that’s been 20 years in the making.
“I can’t believe the day is here today,” said McCready. “I’m so excited and happy about it.”
The story takes readers to what he calls an alternative history of the Seattle music scene in the 1980s and 1990s.
“The rock opera came out of me thinking about… my old friends that have died in the Seattle music scene and wanting to have sort of a musical answer to why all of that happened and whether it was worth it for those guys and how do I fit into all of that,” said McCready.
McCready worked with the team at Z2 <a href="https://comicvibe.com/marvel-comics-makes-eddie-brock-venom-again/” title=”Marvel Comics Makes Eddie Brock Venom Again”>comics to bring his idea to life. While there is also a mythical fantasy element to the story, McCready hopes people take a closer look at the very real human condition.
“I hope they get a feeling of what it was like to be around that. And I hope they get a feeling, any kind of feeling from this as a story… that we can relate to as humans, as people that have passed, people that had success, people who have not had success,” he said.
“Mike McCready’s Farewell to Seasons” will be available October 6.
