Does your dream car seem out of reach? Maybe consider downsizing as More of Everything Car Collectibles celebrates 25 years of selling toy cars to generations of collectors.

Owning the car of your dreams is more attainable than you think, thanks to a local vendor well stocked with Bentleys, Bugattis and BMWs.

However, the vehicle will probably be 64 times smaller than the real deal.

“Some guys, obviously, can’t afford a Ferrari,” said Brian Bach, owner of More of Everything Car Collectibles, said. “But they can afford a toy car.”

Bach has owned and operated the business for 25 years. He specializes in selling diecast toy cars to kids and collectors.

Many cars are 1:64 scale — the size of a typical Hot Wheels toy — but he carries larger diecasts, model kits and pretty much anything related to coupes, hot rods and other motor vehicles, whether that be movies, music or merchandise.

Some Corvette-obsessed collectors exclusively seek that make. Other accumulators love Coca-Cola and seek branded items, including toy cars, to fill their shelves. Most kids like having a toy they can interact and be imaginative with.

Bach said that his toy of choice has always been Hot Wheels. In 2001, he opened the first iteration of More of Everything in the Valley River Center Mall in Eugene. Subsequent years saw his business move to the Shoppes at Gateway in Springfield, then the Paramount Center and now within the Time Travelers Antique Mall, where he’s been stationed since 2020.

With more than 2,000 items in his store located within the Time Travelers Antique Mall and more in a warehouse, Bach has something every shopper will enjoy, whether they’re 6 or 60. The love of car collectibles runs so deep that Bach said it gets passed down in families. When he first opened his store in the Valley River Center, dads brought their 8-year-old kids in to shop.

“Now, those 8-year-old sons are in their 30s bringing their little kids in, so we’re on the third generation of toy car fans,” Bach said.

He said the hobby persists because of the nostalgia associated with toy cars, as well as the fact that “you can spend five bucks and you’re happy as a clam,” with these collectibles.

With cars, boats, airplanes, scooters, motorcycles, trucks, go-karts and more to choose from, he said there’s something for everybody. Bach sells licensed University of Oregon diecast toy cars at Duck Stores, the Eugene Airport gifts shop and local gas stations and retailers.

The past 25 years of business have gone by fast for Bach. The lifelong lover of car collectibles said his loyal customers have brought their kids and grandchildren into the hobby, much like how he surrounded his own kids with it.

“I’ve been doing this since I was born, so to me, it’s just normal. My kids always thought everybody had Hot Wheels all over their house,” Bach said. “They didn’t realize this is not normal. To me, it’s just how it is.”

Those dedicated customers share something important with Bach when he thinks about his past quarter-century of business.

“It’s definitely not a fad,” Back said of toy cars. “It’s definitely enduring over the years.”

The upcoming Willamette Valley Diecast Fall Show will take place on Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Guy Lee Elementary School, located at 755 Harlow Road in Springfield. The free event features opportunities to buy, sell or trade diecast cars, as well as a six-lane downhill race.

More of Everything is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. inside the Time Travelers Antique Mall at 2020 Main St., Springfield.
