A multi-hyphenate favorite has just shared a gift with fans — new queer bops for the fall!
Omar Rudberg just dropped his new EP, Mirage. The 27-year-old, who got his start on Netflix‘s Swedish teen drama and coming-of-age drama Young Royals, previously announced Mirageonly a few weeks ago. This came after an exciting year of teasing new music, and joining fellow Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson on her Midnight Sun tour.
Now, he’s ready for his own main pop boy moment!
Mirageconsists of four songs, each of which feel like a chapter in the story he’s experiencing right now. The title track details the joy (and delusion) of falling in love — and sensual intimacy — combining infectious elements of Swedish pop and Latin percussion.
On a ballad called “Slow Dancer,” Rudberg desires to stay in the moment as he’s embracing his feelings, and wants to make the moment last.
Things take a turn on “Could’ve Been Love,” on which Rudberg hypes up the beat. Though he’s disappointed in a love turned sour, he’s dancing the pain away, turning the club into a healing sanctuary.
But right when he seems down bad, Rudberg remembers who exactly he is on “Pop My Adrenaline,” and he’s ready to get back out and experience those feelings of love and delusion once more.
The album’s title itself reflects something all of us queer listeners have experienced — love, yearning, and disillusionment.
Rudberg first began putting out music in 2018, shortly before landing the rold of Simon on Young Royals. Though Young Royalslaunched Rudberg into international fame, it’s clear that music is where he shines.
Rudberg has been consistent in his output over the past few years, never going more than a few months without hopping on a remix, dropping a single, or an EP of some sort.
And he has no plans of slowing down! After dropping Mirage, Rudberg took to his Instagram Story to share a photo of himself in the studio.
“In the studio working on more music for you while my new EP is out in some parts of the world already!,” he wrote.
In the meantime, stream Mirage as Rudberg holds space for all of our queer feelings.
