Comics Kingdom Updates for a Better Reading Experience

Once again a comic strip platform, this time Comics Kingdom, is updating their site.

It is not a wholesale upgrade of the kind where the site is messed up for a week or two, these are minor tweaks. First up is they have added a “like” button to the comic strips so we can show appreciation without having to comment. Other improvements are promised which will not be disruptive (fingers crossed).

The Saga of Brad & Toni by Greg Evans and Karen Evans, Books One and Two covers

Not included in today’s “Hey Kids! Comics!” listing because it won’t be released until later this year.

Kurtis Findlay who has worked on comic strip projects at The Library of American Comics and Clover Press has created his own publishing company and one of the first projects at Origin Comics is a two book collection about the Brad DeGroot and Toni Daytona relationship from Greg Evans and Karen Evans’ Luann comic strip.

Looking to be a deluxe treatment.

Hal Foster’s Tarzan. The Complete Sunday Comics 1931–1937

Hal Foster’s Tarzan. The Complete Sunday Comics 1931–1937

The $200 Hal Foster’s Tarzan. The Complete Sunday Comics 1931–1937 was included in our “Hey Kids!Comics!” list a few months ago, but respected book reviewer Frank M. Young for The Comics Journal gave us his opinion of the this lavish Taschen edition collecting the all of Hal Foster’s Tarzan comic strips:

A work like the comic strip Tarzan (Foster’s illustration of Burroughs’ fiction, streamlined for an ongoing narrative) doesn’t go down easy anymore. It’s fascinating as a study of Foster’s progress from magazine illustrator to cartoonist, however, and rewards students of comic art who can stomach the crudeness of the narrative content.

Young concludes by recommending it for the Hal Foster art as he learns the ropes of drawing comic strip continuity. (Still the rigid 12 panel grid is a bit monotonous, it would be a few months into Prince Valiant for Foster to break that mold.

    Lulu Press, Print on Demand

    Lulu Press logo

Before we leave books Michael Taube for Troy Media shares with us the background on the print-on-demand publishing empire of Lulu Press, the creation of Canadian millionaire Bob Young. The operation has become the go-to site for independent publishers to print books with a small fan base, for example collections of little known comic strips. Taube’s report focuses on the comic strip titles in this article that comes by way of Moosejaw Today.

    Snoopy at Starbucks

Peanuts merch at Starbucks Fall 2026

Pumpkin spice drinks at Starbucks started last month, but today the coffee house introduces Starbucks’ Fall 2026 Peanuts pumpkin merchandise giveaway
    sales:

On Sept. 15, select Starbucks coffeehouses around the world will launch a limited-edition Peanuts™ + Starbucks® collection, while supplies last. The limited-edition collection sold in coffeehouses includes 10 collectible items featuring drinkware, including a Snoopy glass cold cup, accessories, such as a mini tote bag, a bag charm, enamel pins and more, plus a plush toy.

    Never Was Comic Strip

Dan Dare and Son by Denis Gifford and John Burns

John Freeman at downthetubes provides all the information that is available about a 50 year old comic strip proposal by famed British comic strip creators starring a famed comic strip character: “Meet Dan Dare – and Son.” Freeman also suggests reasons that the project never came to fruition.

“20 Best Comic Strips Still Running Today, Ranked”

    Dilbert by Scott Adams, 1997

Annie Banks for CBR lists the “20 Best Comic Strips Still Running Today, Ranked” and yes, the list, dated today, starts of with Dilbert a comic strip that died with its creator early this year. All of the chosen score debuted in the last century except for Pearls Before Swine (2001). So no Wallace the Brave, Crabgrass,orFlash Gordon by Dan Schkade. At least we give her credit for not listing any titles that are in rerun, well MUTTS and Family Circus (reworked oldies) are in there. A few seem to named because of their longevity. It’s another list where ‘your mileage may
    will vary.’
