Attendees received an exclusive look at three figures in the upcoming line from Brian Volk-Weiss, the CEO of The Nacelle Company. First up: Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu. The Chief Helmsman comes with alternate hands, Alpha 177 Canine, Gertrude the plant, a communicator, a tricorder, and more. Trekkies in the Javits Center were also among the first to see the renderings for the minds (and money) behind the mission: Gene Roddenberry and Lucille Ball.
The creator of Star Trek comes with a typewriter, the original Star Trek script, a model of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and an exclusive golden Captain’s Chair. Meanwhile, the Lucille Ball set includes a script, a director’s chair that says “Ball” and a checkbook — a nod to her important role as a financier for Star Trek: The Original Series.
On Nov. 20, fans can preorder Wave 3, plus the Gene Roddenberry and Lucille Ball double set, at nacellestore.com. There are only a few weeks until you can preorder Janice Rand, Christine Chapel, Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, Pavel Chekov, Hikaru Sulu, Nyota Uhura, Leonard McCoy, Spock, and James T. Kirk!
Volk-Weiss also mentioned that the team is hoping to release two waves and two exclusives next year, for a total of 22 figures. While the goal is to ship Wave 2 before the New Year’s Eve countdown ends, fans might receive their preorders after the calendar year changes. As of now, Trekkies can look forward to Wave 3 (focused on The Original Series), Wave 4 (from an assortment of content), and Wave 5 (featuring the bridge crew).
NYCC attendees also saw a short clip from The Con of Wrath: The Craziest Convention Ever, a new documentary that traces the history of the infamous 1982 Ultimate Fantasy arena show. Directed by Ultimate Fantasy attendee Larry “Dr. Trek” Nemecek, the film will feature the convention’s crew, attendees, and more.
In addition to Trekkie-focused facts, Nacelle showcased the first figure from the Biker Mice from Mars x Judge Dredd series. Accompanied by several accessories (including an alternate universe hot dog), the iconic character Throttle debuts his Judge’s uniform. Volk-Weiss noted that every figure and every vehicle from this series will come with a hot dog accessory, keeping true to his word.
