Wizards of the Coast has <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/marvel-darkhold-destiny-emerges-april-2027″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>released more information regarding the newest Marvel set, Darkhold Destiny, including a first look at some of the cards in the set, as well as the announcement of the writing team for the tie in comic. During the “Bullpen Bulletins! with Stephen Wacker” panel at New York Comic Con, WotC and Marvel teamed up to announce the third Universes Beyond set inspired by the comics, focused on the magical side of the Marvel Universe. This new set features characters that have not been previously depicted in Magic, including a brand new character created for the narrative. Wizards also announced a number of Darkhold Destiny products for every kind of player.
From the Collector Booster Box packaging, we can see that the Time Stone will be the headliner card for the set. Each previous Marvel set has featured a different Infinity Stone, with Spider-Man including the Soul Stone and Marvel Super Heroes including the Mind Stone.
The revealed Darkhold Destiny cards feature a few of the characters and locations present in the story. The first card revealed for the set was The Darkhold, a 3 mana value, black artifact that shares similar effects to The One Ring from the Lord of the Rings set. Alongside the Darkhold, Hela takes center stage as a prominently featured card. Hela, Mistress of Darkness is a legendary creature card with a powerful tutor effect. They also revealed Magik, Illyana Rasputin with a flip effect that turns into Darkchild, Demon Uncaged. The Darkhold Destinycards gallery also shows off a few of the tokens and basic land cards from the set.
There are also a number of products releasing alongside the Darkhold Destiny regular play booster packs including four commander decks with collector’s edition variants, a Draft Night box, an Arcanum Bundle, and Assault on Asgard and Skirmish at the Sanctum scene boxes. The commander decks are:
- Lords of Hel (Black, Red) – BOW BEFORE THE GODDESS OF DEATH—Bring the Ten Realms to heel with Hela and throw undead waves at your enemies with reckless glee; pair powerful sacrifice effects with token generation, and you’ll always have a willing victim
- Midnight Sons (White, Black) – SEIZE THE NIGHT—Bare your fangs with Blade and rack up life through Vampires and other monstrous powers; spend your excess life on devastating battlefield effects and be the last survivor standing when the sun comes up
- Gods of Asgard (Red, Green, White) – WIELD THE POWER OF THOR—Bring the hammer down with Thor leading your Asgardian armies and build up forces of power 4 or more; hold the greatest power at the table to become truly godlike
- Strange Academy (White, Blue, Black) – DEMONSTRATE YOUR MASTERY OF THE MYSTIC ARTS—Take the table to school with Doctor Strange and demonstrate the power of portal magic; blink your spellcasters in and out of play to repeatedly score top marks on battlefield entry effects

The Arcanum bundle comes with 8 booster packs, Full-Art Biofrost lands, and mechanically unique Arcanum promo cards, and more. The scene boxes come with a set of cards that depict moments from the narrative through borderless, special edition cards that can be set into the box to tell the story.
The official announcement of the set also said that, “Marvel: Darkhold Destiny‘s story will include the origin of a brand-new character through a new Marvel Comics release written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with a digital release set for February 2027 and a physical release set for April 2027.” As reported by onsite reporter and The Beat Editor-in-Chief Heidi MacDonaldin thisBluesky post, this new character will be named Fraxie.
