Ignition Press has announced several new titles in the run-up to this year’s New <a href="https://comicvibe.com/watch-new-york-comic-cons-big-panels-for-free-online-with-nerdist/" title="Watch New York Comic Con's Big Panels for Free Online With Nerdist”>York Comic Con. As well as next year’s edition of the romantic anthology Love Ignited, these include Teq, an alternate history thriller by Peter Murrieta (Wizards of Waverly Place) and David Rubín (Ether), and The Caretaker, a cosmic sci-fi adventure reteaming Dark Spaces: The Hollywood Special creators Jeremy Lambert and Claire Roe.

Teq, a five-issue series, is set in a version of LA ruled by a still existing Aztec Empire, and follows the titular private investigator, as he pursues “a string of brutal ritual murders that echo not only his past career as a member of the official police force, but also threaten to upend the stability of the city by resurrecting barbaric religious practices that have lain dormant for a reason. Plus, the fact that his own daughter is about to enter into the next phase of her own religious education makes this more personal than Teq would care to admit.”
As well as Murrieta and Rubín, the book also features lettering by El Torres, and additional prose material by Murrieta. Issue #1 will be released on February 24, with variant covers by Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets) and J. Gonzo (La Mano del Destino), while subsequent issues will have covers by fine artist Mexifunk and Dani (Batwoman).

The Caretaker, which is an ongoing, tells the story of Jenny Brennan, an aspiring astronaut who becomes bonded with the titular alien god, “who warns of our galaxy’s imminent demise. Under the Caretaker’s influence, Jenny will balance her role as the public face of NASA’s space program with the secret burden of piloting a world-saving suicide mission beyond the known universe — a sacrifice shouldered over the years by her ailing father and the two sons following in her footsteps.”
The book, which contains colors by Jordie Bellaire and lettering by Becca Carey, will begin on February 10. Issue #1 will have two open-to-order covers, respectively by Roe and Sam Wolfe Connelly (Fall of the House of Slaughter), and a 1-in-10 retailer incentive cover by Nick Derington (Batman: Universe).

Ignition also announced We Cannot Remain, a horror series reuniting Deluge writer Cullen Bunn, artist Marika Cresta, and colorist Ronda Pattison. It follows a group of unhoused people, who discover the abandoned building they’re sheltering in is haunted
“Different ghosts linger on every floor, each driven by their own individual desires that tie them to this world. In turn, they will force those looking for safety to confront their own worst fears.” Issue #1 will be released on January 20, with two open-order variant covers by Cresta and Joëlle Jones, and a 1-in-10 retailer incentive cover by Andrew K. Currey. A cover by John Pearson will also be available.
