NVIDIA is back at Gamescom 2026 with major GeForce tech announcements

    Industry

Nvidia has confirmed that it will host a “GeForce On Community Update” at Gamescom 2026, with the presentation focused on the latest RTX games and gaming features. The event is scheduled for August 25 at 8 AM PT / 4 PM BST, but anyone hoping for a surprise hardware reveal may want to temper their expectations.

In particular, this isn’t expected to be the stage for Nvidia’s rumored RTX 50 SUPER series. The company is positioning the event around software and gaming integrations rather than new graphics cards, so Gamescom 2026 is unlikely to bring a surprise GPU launch.

Instead, Nvidia is expected to showcase upcoming games making use of DLSS and ray tracing, while potentially providing updates on several recently announced technologies. One of the biggest possibilities is DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, which Nvidia previously indicated would arrive sometime in August.

The timing certainly makes sense. Files related to Nvidia’s second-generation Ray Reconstruction model reportedly appeared in the beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and users have apparently already managed to activate the technology in supported games through NVIDIA Profile Inspector. Nvidia could therefore use its Gamescom presentation to officially roll out the updated model.

Nvidia Reflex 2 could also make an appearance. The latency-reduction technology was announced some time ago but still hasn’t received a full release, making Gamescom a logical opportunity for Nvidia to provide an availability update.

There’s also a possibility that Nvidia will show off its upcoming RTX Spark laptops, particularly to demonstrate what its ARM-based Windows machines can do. However, these systems appear to be aimed more toward productivity than gaming, so they probably won’t be the main focus of a Gamescom presentation.

Another technology worth watching is DLSS 5, although it’s less certain whether Nvidia will have anything substantial to announce regarding its next-generation upscaling technology. For gamers, the safest expectation is therefore a software-focused presentation featuring new RTX games, DLSS implementations, ray tracing showcases, and updates on existing technologies. Nvidia could still have a surprise or two in store, but new GeForce GPUs shouldn’t be expected.

That’s particularly notable given the ongoing RTX 50 pricing situation, with graphics cards continuing to sell well above MSRP while Nvidia has yet to publicly address the issue. Unlike last year’s Gamescom event, Nvidia hasn’t indicated that hardware announcements are coming this time around.

As always, for the latest news on GeForce GPUs, hardware updates, and other Nvidia gaming technologies, be sure to follow our dedicated hardware coverage.
