Nvidia cargo heist sees $11.4 million in hardware stolen

A truck containing $11.4 million in Nvidia hardware has vanished between California and Texas

According to a report from <a href="https://abc7news.com/post/114-million-shipment-nvidia-cargo-stolen-oakland-calif/20018822/?utm_source=videocardz.com" rel="nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>ABC7 News, thieves stole six pallets of Nvidia hardware worth $11.4 million. The pallets disappeared while being transported between Oakland, California, and Fort Worth, Texas. This shipment was collected on August 29th, and the truck and its drivers subsequently disappeared.

It is currently unknown what kind of hardware this truck was transporting. The truck that collected the pallets carried the logo of a food transportation company, so it didn’t look like it was carrying expensive Nvidia hardware. Investigators lost track of the truck in San Burnadino County. The crime was first reported to police on September 13th.

This theft is one of many that have targeted Nvidia hardware in recent months. In September, we reported on an Nvidia-branded truck that was stolen in California. Unbeknownst to the thieves, this truck was for testing autonomous driving hardware and wasn’t carrying expensive server or gaming hardware. The truck carried 20 tons of sand, and the thieves abandoned it after discovering the payload.

Nvidia hardware is highly sought after, be it gaming hardware or AI/server equipment. This has made Nvidia’s logistics operations a prime target for thieves, as the hardware’s value is simply too high. With the US government banning high-end AI hardware exports to China, Nvidia’s high-end hardware is especially valuable to thieves who can sell stolen goods overseas. This has led some experts to state that these hardware heists have national security implications. After all, we have no idea where Nvidia’s stolen hardware is going, or what it will be used for.
