“Aishite” landed August 7 and it’s built like a horror anime, blood running down the frame as North West drifts through an abandoned school and arcade, her face slipping in and out of focus. Blue hair, facial piercings, staring straight into the camera as she sings “Just love me / Everyone betrays me.”
The 13-year-old is the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, older sister to Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7. The song comes off her debut EP N0rth4evr, released May 1, which returns again and again to what it’s like being a celebrity’s kid: “I can’t let nobody in.”
It arrives days after she called off her first tour. The Kimokawaii Tour with rapper Molly Santana was set to open August 5 in Dallas before North announced the cancellation on her July 30 Instagram Story. “I was really excited to go on tour w Molly Santana,” she wrote. “Sadly it isn’t happening anymore.” She told fans she had “something special” coming instead.
