Aug. 4 (UPI) — Nintendo showcased its upcoming fantasy-adventure title Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during a livestreamed presentation on Tuesday.
The next entry in the popular tactical, role-playing series takes place during a competitive tournament known as the Heroic Games.
Warriors from all over the world have gathered at the capitol city of Dagsion to compete in the Heroic Games, with the winner being granted one wish.
Players will get to control one of four heroes competing in the tournament including the young Cai who is fighting to save his father from prison, ruthless swordsman Dietrich who is looking for stronger opponents, royal queen Theodora who fights for her homeland and musician Leda who seeks revenge.
Between competing in the tournament matches, players can explore the larger world outside Dagsion to ready their forces. Players can recruit new allies, go on side quests, equip new items and more.
Battles in the arena brings back Fire Emblem’s classic turn-based combat. Each main character comes with special abilities know as Blaze Arts that can turn the tide of battle.
Cai unleashes a burst of power, Dietrich can teleport around the battlefield, Theodora can throw boulders at foes and Leda can summon a powerful monster.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave plot also involves events in the future, as Dagsion is destroyed by a revived demon god. Players will be able to change the fate of the future with help from Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda.
