Nintendo has held two Direct showcases this week. Yesterday’s was all about the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, and today’s was a more general presentation about games coming to Switch 2. If you want to watch the show but couldn’t catch it live, you can watch the VOD below. If you just want to scroll through the highlights, read on.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Kicking things off is a new look at Monster Hunter Wilds, which is finally coming to Switch 2 with all its previous updates and local co-op support on December 4. It’ll be followed by the Ascendance expansion coming out next year.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Because we haven’t seen enough of it between Gamescom and the State of Play, we got another brief look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which is coming to the Switch 2 (and everything else) on April 8. Also, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is shadow dropping on Switch 2 today.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition
The Zelda musou game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is coming to the Switch 2 with all its expansion pass content and a new Calamity Mode difficulty setting. Those who bought the game on Switch 1 will get a discount when upgrading to the Switch 2 version. It launches on February 25.
Meccha Chameleon
The hide-and-seek Steam phenomenon is coming to Switch 2 today.
Pokémon Pokopia
Next up we saw a bit of Pokopia‘s upcoming fashion-based expansion, which lets you accessorize both your player character Ditto and the ‘mons who are living in your various towns. More critters are also coming to the game, including Snubbel and Braixen. The update launches later this year.
Star Fox
A new, free update is coming to Star Fox, including a local split-screen battle mode and new stages, all coming on September 29. Also, Star Fox Adventures is coming to the GameCube Classics catalog later today.
Quick hits
We saw quick looks at a few games, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s remaster, coming to Switch 2 with mouse controls on September 29 ahead of the 2027 Songs of the Pastexpansion. Also shown was the Royal Edition of Kingdom Come II Deliverance,the upcoming Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave coming on September 17, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam coming December 10, and a new trailer for Yokai Watch 2: Haunted Domain, which is now in development.
Pikmin 4
Boy, we’re really leading with a lot of old games in this Direct, huh? Pikmin 4 is getting a Switch 2 edition that lets you use voice commands through the system’s built-in mic, as well as a new mode called Dandori Academy that lets you do limited time-based challenges gathering items in the environment, though it sounds like they’ll only be playable on weekends. 72 stages will be released over time. The game launches on November 12.
Onyx: The Dark Grip
Now, to take things in a very different direction, Silent Hill-esque horror adventure game Onyx: The Dark Grip uses touch controls in handheld mode, which the game’s central character perceives as some kind of paranormal phenomenon, meaning you can freak him out if you overdo your interventions. The game is coming to Switch 2 next year.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Another old game coming to Switch 2 is Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which is getting a new mode and hero named Shimmer who can see the future in battles. The port is coming to Switch 2 on December 3.
Stage Fright
Overcookeddeveloper Hello Games is next with cute and spooky puzzle game Stage Fright. It’s coming to both Switches next year.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
The next expansion for Disney town-builder Disney Dreamlight Valley is called The Keepsake Sea and is coming in November.
Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale
Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Taleis another world-builder, and it seems to include some rhythmic platforming elements as well.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
The Lego-based open-world superhero game is finally coming to Switch 2 on September 18.
Kirby Air Riders
Kirby Air Riders is getting a small free update to change some of the in-game areas, as well as finally completing its amiibo figure collection.
Cairn
Extremely challenging rock climber Cairn is coming to Switch 2 in early 2027. A demo is available today.
Resident Evil remakes
Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4‘s remakes are coming to Switch 2 with all their DLC on October 16.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
The upcoming remake of the original Tomb Raider game is coming to Switch 2 on February 12.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, the next game in Nintendo’s Sports series, is bringing motion-controlled sports to the Switch 2 on October 22.
Metroid Ravenous
Finally, a new video game. Metroid Ravenous is the next 2D action platformer starring Samus Aran because girl cannot stop going to dangerous planets. She seems to have gained some power to absorb the life of her enemies. Go off, queen. The game comes to Switch 2 on January 28. There will also be amiibos available on launch day.
Mario Kart World
Everyone’s favorite Switch 2 launch game is getting a free update. Mario Kart World‘s getting 10 new courses based on ones from the original Super Mario Kart alongside new routes on Knockout Tour, and it’s available later today.
Mega Man Dual Override
We got another look at Capcom’s Mega Man Dual Override, with some new footage of Proto Man gameplay. The game will launch next spring, and amiibo of Mega Man and Proto Man will also be available on launch day.
Eternal Anima
Next up is Eternal Anima, an old-school fantasy RPG from Marvelous, which includes a future-sight mechanic that lets you see enemy attacks before they happen and react accordingly. The game comes to Switch 2 on March 4.
Danganronpa 2×2
Okay, now you have my attention. We got a new look at Danganronpa 2×2, which shows the murder mystery remake and its new “Slayhem” route that will change up the game’s various cases, as well as the inclusion of new mechanics, some from 2017’s DanganronpaV3, and others never before seen. There also appears to be a new student among the ranks? Who is this mysterious boy? The game launches on January 14.
More quick hits
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolvesis coming to Switch 2 in time for the game’s third season pass. The digital version will launch on October 22, with physical copies coming in January. Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, a big ol’ compilation of 10 Metal Slug games, is coming to both Switches next year. Card battler Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX is coming to both Switches on February 16. Romancing Saga 3: Destinies United is a remake of the original Romancing Saga 3 coming to Switches on February 16.
Sizzle Reel
007 First Light is coming to Switch 2 this year, Far Cry 3 and its Blood Dragonspin-off are launching in the spring, racing game The Crew Motorfest launches on October 8, The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brotherlaunches next year, House Flipper 2 comes to the system on October 15, cooperative puzzler Sonic Pico Park launches on November 12, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launches on December 3 and has a demo today, Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon is available today, co-op game Hela is coming on December 1, puzzler Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream launches on December 3, Stellar Blade is coming on November 5, The Ascent Ultimate Editionis out in December, It Takes Two comes to the system on October 15, the Switch 2 edition of Palia comes out in December, adventure game Bluey’s Happy Snapsis out on October 15, racer Hot Wheels Infinite Rushis out September 10, Fading Echo has a demo out today ahead of its September 17 launch, Hell Is Uslaunches October 8, and Guardians of the Galaxy Encore Editionbrings the woefully underappreciated Marvel game to the system on November 5.
Persona 4 Revival
Give me just a second to catch my breath after all that.
Okay, we got another look at Persona 4 Revival, the upcoming Persona 4 remake that will also launch on Switch 2, but slightly later—on May 20—than the February launch on other systems. Persona 6 will also come to Switch 2, though no date was given.
Kirby and the World Beyond
Closing out the show is a new Kirby 3D platformer, which seems to feature a pretty open world for the little guy to jump and fly around. He’ll meet new friends, devour new enemies, wield a sword, and wear an overly-detailed green hat like he’s the Hero of Time. The trailer hints at Kirby discovering that his world is in some way artificial, Truman Showstyle, with a whole world beyond, hence the game’s title. It launches in Spring 2027.
Hold on, we’re getting word that Mario has been found dead in a ditch in Miami.
