The Apothecary Diaries is making a massive return later this Fall with more of the anime than ever, and a new trailer from Crunchyroll is showing off Season 3 ahead of its October release date. The anime adaptation for Hyūganatsu’s The Apothecary Diaries has been an absolute runaway success since it made its debut, and has quickly returned for even more episodes. But it’s getting ready for its biggest season yet with a third batch of episodes coming later this Fall, and a new feature film coming to theaters too.

The Apothecary DiariesSeason 3 is making its return to Crunchyroll later this October as part of their jam packed Fall 2026 slate of exclusives, and it’s going to be offering the first cour of its episodes before it returns in 2027. This third season is kicking off a disastrous new arc for Maomao and the others as a major locust problem is ushering in a famine that could lead to the destruction of everything. When Does The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 Come Out?
The Apothecary DiariesSeason 3 will be making its debut on October 2nd, and it will be exclusively streaming with Crunchyroll as part of their Fall 2026 schedule. The anime will then be taking a break in the Winter months next year before then returning for its second cour of episodes sometime in April 2027 as part of the Spring 2027 schedule. This new trailer also reveals some big updates about the new additions to the cast along with the first tease of the new season’s opening theme, “Kumo o Nukekazashimo e Watashidake” as performed by yorushika.
New additions to the cast for The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 include Reina Ueda as Bai Niangniang, who is teased to play a big role in the coming arc. But while this seems to be a mystery that Maomao may not be able to solve, it’s something that is going to be much bigger than anything that she has ever faced before. But like the other seasons before it, fans are likely going to love following Maomao as she digs further into this newest mystery.
What’s Next for The Apothecary Diaries?

This isn’t going to be all for the franchise, however, as The Apothecary Diaries also has a new feature film coming to theaters later this year as well. The Apothecary Diarieshas a new original movie project hitting Japan later this December, and it features a brand new story from the creator themselves. It’s yet to be revealed how it’s going to tie into the rest of the anime’s canon, if at all, but it’s going to be yet another big mystery that Maomao is going to need to get to the bottom of.
But unfortunately while The Apothecary Diaries has set a release date in Japan for its new movie outing, it has yet to confirm any potential international release plans as of the time of this writing. It’s highly likely it’s going to hit other shores considering how massive of a franchise this really is, but international fans might have to wait until 2027 for their chance to see the new movie for themselves.
