HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WBMA) — A new golf-oriented outdoor <a href="https://comicvibe.com/newcastle-and-liverpool-crank-up-the-entertainment-for-emotional-send-off/” title=”Newcastle and Liverpool crank up the entertainment for emotional send-off”>entertainment venue could be coming to Homewood, with the proposal taking its next step before the Homewood City Council Monday.
The project, called “The Woods,” is proposed for property at 504 and 508 Scott Street. The City Council is scheduled to consider setting a public hearing on the project’s final development plan during its Aug. 24 meeting.
City documents describe The Woods as a “proposed golf-oriented outdoor entertainment venue.” The approximately one-acre property is already zoned West Homewood Zoning District, meaning the request before the city involves approval of the final development plan rather than a rezoning.
Plans included with the council packet show an approximately 8,798-square-foot building surrounded by a significant outdoor recreation area. The site plan also shows outdoor seating and activity areas associated with the golf-oriented concept.
The plans list 15 vehicle parking spaces, including one accessible space, along with 21 bicycle spaces. The documents project construction beginning in November 2026 and completion in May 2027.
Several details about the project are not explained in the council packet, including exactly what type of golf activities would be offered, whether the venue would include a restaurant or bar, its proposed hours of operation, expected customer capacity and the estimated investment.
The parking plan could also become part of the city’s review. While the submitted plan lists 15 vehicle spaces for the approximately one-acre entertainment development, the documents included with Monday’s agenda do not explain whether additional or shared parking would be available nearby.
Monday’s action would not give final approval to The Woods. Council is being asked to set a public hearing where residents would have an opportunity to speak for or against the final development plan before a future vote.
The Homewood City Council meets Monday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. at Homewood City Hall.
