It’s been just over a year since Wishbone Kitchen, AKA Meredith Hayden’s, cookbook was released, and she’s ready to take another career leap. This time, from the page to the TV screen.
As a part of the streaming service’s push for more creator-driven content, Netflix has partnered with Hayden to release a Wishbone Kitchen video podcast show. Luckily, Hayden, a culinary school graduate, is no stranger to the screen. After sharing TikTok vlogs of her life as a private chef in the Hamptons, Hayden quickly gained a wide following for her recipes and cooking content. Continuing to share recipes, food hacks, and bits of her personal life on social media gave Hayden the momentum she needed to publish her own cookbook, , in May 2025.
Aside from social media posts, many of the plans for the Wishbone Kitchen cooking show were kept under wraps. But after watching the debut episode, we have a taste of what to expect from the entire series.
Not a Typical Netflix Cooking Show
Netflix has made sure to clarify that the Wishbone Kitchen show is a video podcast series, not a typical show you’d watch on the streaming service. So what does this mean for viewers? Audiences can expect more casual, conversational episodes rather than structured, highly-produced content. A video podcast format also allows for more freedom with each episode. Hayden will share personal stories, lessons, and experiences that would be featured on a typical cooking show.
Because it’s a video podcast show, within the first episode, there were scenes as if Hayden was vlogging on her personal camera alongside highly-produced clips more regularly used in traditional cooking shows. We also saw more behind-the-scenes-esque content of Hayden learning how to maneuver around camera equipment in her home that wouldn’t typically be shown on cooking shows.
Another difference between the Wishbone Kitchen show and other traditional cooking shows is the setting. While many cooking shows take place on a kitchen set, the Wishbone Kitchen show follows Hayden around her property while she prepares for a meal. From prepping marinades in the kitchen and grilling in her backyard to weeding and harvesting herbs in her garden, the show takes place throughout Hayden’s stunning Hamptons property.
More Than Just Recipes
Even though Hayden originally gained a following on social media due to her cooking and private chef content, people have fallen in love with Hayden even more because of her personal story times, Hamptons lifestyle, and, of course, her Bernese mountain dog, Poppy. And those personal stories and anecdotes aren’t going anywhere.
During the first episode, where Hayden prepared a surf and turf meal for friends, she not only showed how to prep and grill the food, but also gave a tour of her , tips for harvesting herbs, and gave viewers plenty of Poppy content. In future episodes, viewers can also expect to see plenty of guests, from Hayden’s chef friends to her family and coworkers.
