The eight-episode, early 2000s-set show stars Kristina Bogic as Anya Butler, Sara Boustany as Elise Zakaria, Geena Meszaros as Lisbeth Anderson, Nnamdi Asomugha as Father Franklin, Louisa Krause as Catherine Anderson, Shirley Chen as Maddie Delaney, Jackson Kelly as Leo Anderson,Sofia Wylie as Grace Franklin, and The TraitorswinnerGabby Windey as Coach Miller.

The Bodyhails from executive producer and showrunner Quinn Shephard, who created the Emmy-nominated psychological thriller Under the Bridgestarring Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough. Keough executive produces The Bodyalongside Shephard.

Shephard was heavily inspired by the films she grew up with: Carrie,Jennifer’s Body, Heavenly Creatures,Mean Girls, and The Crucible. “I literally made this for my teen self. Tonally, I would describe the show as gritty camp. It’s a raunchy teen psychodrama with a dash of Catholic horror,” she told TUDUM.com, while also calling the series a “playful spin” on her own experiences as a teen.

“This show can be really funny, and it can still be really sad at times or really spooky…It is aesthetically such an homage to every single film that influenced me as a filmmaker, and made me want to be an artist,” Shephard added.
