Netflix has published the trailer for its upcoming three-part documentary series on Natalee Holloway, who disappeared on Aruba in 2005. In 2023, Dutchman Joran van der Sloot confessed to killing the American teen on the Dutch island.
In the documentary, titled Taken: Natalee Holloway, mother Beth Holloway tells the story of her daughter’s disappearance, twenty years of uncertainty, and then Van der Sloot’s dramatic confession. This is the first time Natalee’s mother is telling her full story.
“Growing up in the ’00s, it was impossible to turn on the television or walk past a newsstand without seeing Natalee Holloway’s face,” said director Dani Sloane. “Behind the constant media attention and sensational headlines lies the story of Natalee’s mother, Beth, and the courage and strength with which she stood up after the unimaginable loss of her daughter.”
“As a mother and filmmaker, I find her determination and relentless drive to find answers immensely inspiring. I am proud to tell her story,” Sloane said.
The documentary also includes exclusive footage of interviews with detectives and audio from Natalee’s family, friends, and the FBI.
Taken: Natalee Holloway will stream on Netflix from November 4.
