Kojima Productions has unveiled the first teaser for the animated series Death Stranding Isolations. The show will tell a standalone story separate from the games, featuring new characters, and will premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
The story takes place in North America shortly after Sam Bridges reconnected different parts of the continent through the Chiral Network. The country’s reunification has brought unforeseen consequences that the series’ characters will have to face.
At the center of the story is a girl who lost her mother to the Death Stranding and has grown accustomed to solitude. Chance encounters will force her to leave her isolation behind. Other characters include an old man who tries to bring people together in his own way, a female soldier caught up in war, and a boy angered by the world’s injustice.
The series was first announced in 2025, but Kojima Productions has now revealed more details about the story and shown finished animation. The project is being produced in a traditional hand-drawn 2D style.
The series is directed by Takayuki Sano, with writer Tow Ubukata handling the series composition and screenplay. Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer, while animation is being produced by E&H production, known for Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet.
The exact premiere date, episode count, and voice cast have yet to be announced. Death Stranding Isolations is unrelated to the animated feature film Death Stranding Mosquito or the live-action adaptation from A24. Both projects will also feature original stories and new characters.
